Xavier Miller Death, Obituary: Versailles Community Mourns Xavier Miller After Fatal Snowmobile Accident
DARKE COUNTY, Ohio — The Versailles community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of 20-year-old Xavier Miller, who passed away following a snowmobile accident late Thursday night, January 29, 2026. Family, friends, and neighbors are struggling to come to terms with the sudden and tragic death of a young man known for his energy, warmth, and vibrant spirit.
According to the Darke County Sheriff’s Department, deputies, along with the Ansonia Rescue, Versailles Fire Department, and CareFlight, responded around 11:33 p.m. to the area of Brown Road and Shaffer Road after reports of a snowmobile crash with injuries. Investigators reported that Miller was operating a 2003 Ski-Doo MXZ snowmobile traveling south through a field when he struck an embankment, causing the vehicle to become airborne and collide with a guardrail. He was ejected from the snowmobile and came to rest in the roadway.
First responders immediately provided medical care at the scene, and Miller was airlifted by CareFlight to Miami Valley Hospital. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, he tragically succumbed to his injuries. The Darke County Sheriff’s Department continues to investigate the circumstances of the accident to better understand what led to this devastating incident.
