According to the Oregon State Police, a westbound Jeep Cherokee, driven by Aspen Cheyenne Hadley, 25, of Bend, crossed the centerline for reasons that remain under investigation. The vehicle collided head-on with an eastbound Freightliner box truck operated by Leah Lynn Laforest, 35, of Redmond. Despite the rapid response of emergency personnel, Aspen Hadley was pronounced deceased at the scene.
