In Loving Memory of Jorge Arturo Gonzalez Jr.
The Harris County community is mourning the tragic and untimely loss of Jorge Arturo Gonzalez Jr., 33, of Channelview, Texas, who lost his life on January 28, 2026, as the result of a fatal shooting. His passing has left a deep and painful void in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
According to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, Joseph Plattenburg (born August 7, 1984) and Jordyn Wells (born March 18, 1998) were taken into custody in connection with Jorge’s death. Investigators allege the suspects shot Jorge during a dispute in which they claimed he owed them money. Both individuals have been charged with murder and were booked into the Harris County Jail. Authorities credited the swift arrests to the diligent and coordinated efforts of homicide detectives and SWAT, whose work helped move the case forward quickly.
While the circumstances surrounding his death are heartbreaking, those who loved Jorge choose to remember him for the life he lived—not the violence that took him.
Jorge Arturo Gonzalez Jr. was a devoted father, loving son, caring brother, and loyal friend. He was known for his infectious laughter, unwavering loyalty, and a heart that was as big as his smile. A passionate supporter of Houston sports teams, Jorge also found his greatest joy in the simple moments—spending time with family, laughing with friends, and being present for the people he loved most. He had a way of bringing warmth and light into every room, and his presence made others feel seen and valued.
He is survived by his beloved son, Jorge “LJ” Arturo Gonzalez III; his parents, Jorge Arturo Gonzalez Sr. (Beatriz) and Misty Bartolomei (Jorge); his sisters, Amber Castro (Rick), Ashleigh Champagne (John), Alex Gonzalez, and Adriana Gonzalez; and his brother, Arturo Gonzalez.
Jorge also leaves behind his cherished nieces, Angelina Gonzalez (Cesar), Anabella Doria, Melina Guzman, Mackenzie Guzman, and Maddix Tackitt; his nephews, Caden Champagne, Mason Champagne, and Enrique Castro; his great-niece, Mariela Cantu; and his grandmother, Peggy Stansbury (Dan). Each of them carries a piece of his legacy forward through love, memory, and shared stories.
Visitation services will be held at Funeraria Del Angel Crespo, located at 2516 Navigation Blvd, Houston, TX 77003. Visitation is scheduled for Friday, February 6, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., and Saturday, February 7, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
Jorge Arturo Gonzalez Jr. will be deeply missed and forever remembered. His love, laughter, and spirit live on through his son and the many lives he touched. May his memory bring comfort to those who grieve him and strength to his family as they navigate this profound loss.
