The Livingston Parish community, along with loved ones near and far, is mourning the heartbreaking loss of Cayden Callihan, an 18-year-old young man from North Carolina whose life was tragically cut short in a devastating two-vehicle crash late Friday night, January 30. According to Louisiana State Police, the crash occurred just before midnight at the intersection of LA 1032 and Hunter’s Way. A preliminary investigation revealed that Cayden was traveling east on Hunter’s Way in a Honda when he approached the intersection. At the same time, a Ford was traveling south on LA 1032. As Cayden attempted to make a left turn onto LA 1032, his vehicle entered the path of the Ford, which struck the Honda on the driver’s side. Despite the rapid response of authorities, Cayden was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Ford sustained minor injuries. Troopers have indicated that impairment is not suspected, though routine toxicology testing will be conducted as part of the ongoing investigation.
